Rugby ATL Launches Informational Live Series ‘The RATL Roundup’
On May 10th, 2020, Atlanta’s first professional rugby franchise released the opening installment of our new live series ‘The RATL Roundup,’ a behind the scenes look created to inform the country about our organization and our people.
In our first episode, we spoke with Coach/General Manager Scott Lawrence and one of our two first Team Captain’s Ryan Nell. Vice President Kevin McCorry served as the chair and kicked off the conversation by asking Scott about our organization’s culture, why it was so important to us to have a set of core values from day one, before asking Ryan what it meant to carry these responsibilities as a Captain. Our pair answered sincerely, from their own observations, and provided Kevin an excellent segue into asking Coach and Captain about their specific rugby experiences, what they’ve learned, and what they will hope to bring into the next MLR season.
The conversation bookended around our community, as Scott expressed the importance of players exemplifying our club’s core values in the RATL environment & the greater Atlanta community, and how we celebrate our players’ good deeds through putting their name on a placard on a brick in our HQ. Both Scott and Ryan agreed about the unique privilege and opportunity that our organization has to help the region grow, not only through mentoring players and coaches in all age grades of rugby, but also to assist in developing community businesses and leaders through sport with our nonprofit. Our game has proven to be an excellent teacher, and we as the newest professional sports team in Atlanta are excited to play a part in growing the sport in our city and in our region, as we continue to #PushthePACE.
