Rugby ATL Produces Third Video of ‘The RATL Roundup’ Live Series
Atlanta, Georgia- Rugby ATL has announced the release of our U-19 & Youth Academy programs, along with a Summer Residency Camp, as Pathway 404 bringing a professional caliber of mentoring both players and coaches to the Southeast Region. In accord with our core values to #PushThePACE, our new mentoring platforms are set to launch in July, in Roswell, Alpharetta, and Marietta in the 404, and in select locations throughout the Southeast Region of the United States. Youth practices are tentatively set to take place on Friday nights, or Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with U-19 practices meeting more consistently, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as the starting date will be finalized when return to play is deemed safe.
“We’re trying to give them the opportunity and resources to build their skills individually, and maybe in the future get recognized as USA players and coaches.” Said co-creator Neethling Gericke, one of our professional athletes at hooker, who will serve as the Coach of the Forwards and overall Head Coach of the U-19 group this fall. According to the new Coach, the connection between the organization and the fans is a joy, “I wish I had been coached by a professional athlete when I was that young… the only thing you want to do is give back, give back, give back, just see them smile.”
Working alongside him will be fellow pro flyhalf Kurt Coleman, who will oversee the backs and skills development of the team as Assistant Coach. “We were lucky enough coming from South Africa to start at a young age. When I started my career, you start at under 19 level, you work your way up to professional rugby, and hopefully, eventually, international level. So that’s the initiative that we wanted to put together, starting with the youth, building it up through the local regions, eventually getting to Rugby ATL in the MLR, and ideally becoming an Eagle.”
Rugby ATL, as the first professional rugby franchise to come to the Southeast Region of the United States, is also the first organization to put together a comprehensive, top to bottom academy system. Our franchise is growing the sport and the culture within our community, through experienced leadership and a dedication to our core values of Personal development, Accountability, creating Change, and focusing on Execution, or as we put it, #PACE.
