Rugby ATL wins 2023 home opener
Rugby ATL’s highly anticipated 2023 Major League Rugby home opener against the Toronto Arrows went off without a hitch as we lifted the Fire and Ice Cup in front of our fans at Silverbacks Park.
Atlanta opened the scoring through prop Alex Maughan 13 minutes in before Austin White added to our tally in the 24th minute. Rewita Biddle scored our final try of the night on his MLR debut. Longtime Rugby ATL player Kurt Coleman scored our only conversion of the night in the 14th minute.
The Toronto Arrows scored their first and only try of the night in the 76th minute, a conversion in the 77th, and a penalty kick in the 81st to make the final score 17-10.
The result moves Rugby ATL into third in the Eastern Conference with four points.
Our next matchup will be an away fixture against the Seattle Seawolves.
