U.S. Awarded 2031 Men’s and 2033 Women’s Rugby World Cup, World Rugby Announces
It’s official – World Rugby, the sport’s governing body, announced that the 2031 Men’s and 2033 Women’s Rugby World Cup are coming to the United States. After a continuous and successful lobby by Major League Rugby and the Biden administration, the world’s biggest global sporting events are coming to the U.S.
Matches will be held in multiple cities across the country in NFL and MLS stadiums, with the possibility of the City of Atlanta playing host to one or more matches. Rugby ATL continues to be at the forefront of growing the sport in Atlanta, with an emphasis on youth academies, fan engagement and creating a new and diverse marketplace for the game. “Now is the time to experience the excitement and athleticism of rugby at home in Atlanta, before our country becomes the center of the rugby world,” said Rugby ATL president Amanda Windsor White. “I can’t think of a better time to invest in the sport of rugby and be a part of the movement that is happening here in the United States to grow this tremendous game.”
