Jeremy “Missle” Misailegalu’s journey into the world of rugby began in 2014 while attending New Mexico Highlands University. At the time, Misailegalu played running back on the NMHU football team. As a student athlete, Misailegalu valued staying active during the off-season which ultimately gave him the opportunity to wrestle for a season and try his hand at rugby.
Misailegalu went to a rugby practice and decided to dive head first into the sport, playing his first match just days later. After his first season playing rugby with the Vatos, he was introduced to rugby sevens and went to Philadelphia for Nationals in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO). In 2014 the Vatos finished in second place, but later went on to win Nationals in 2015 and 2016. During these summers, Misailegalu played in the Rugbytown 7s Tournament where Denver finished out as Cup Champions both years.
After playing for the Barbarians in 2017 and making it to the USA Rugby Club’s 7s Championship, Misailegalu was offered the opportunity to play in New Zealand and continue to grow his rugby career. He moved to Christchurch, New Zealand and played for the Christchurch 7s, Canterbury 7s, and Marist Albion 7s.
Upon returning to the U.S. in 2017, Misailegalu joined the Seattle Seawolves during their inaugural season in the MLR. After a successful season with the Seawolves, Misailegalu played for the Utah Warriors in 2019 and later went on to play for the Park CIty Haggis in USA Club 7’s Nationals. In Fall 2019, he played for 404 (Rugby ATL’s Southeast Regional Development Team) where they won the Elite Cup.
With a demonstrated track record of dedication and performance, it is with great excitement Misailegalu joins Rugby ATL for the 2020 inaugural season.
When not playing rugby, Misailegalu enjoys being a substitute teacher, hanging out with the family, and beating his teammates in 2K.
