Raised in Danville, California Helu grew up playing sports and began playing rugby in seventh grade. With family in San Mateo, CA Helu spent weekends playing with his cousins and developed that competitive spark that stays with him today. He played for the Danville Oaks RFC up until college, demonstrating impeccable speed and power on the field. Helu was recognized for his abilities, and earned the title of High School All-American for XVs. His accomplishments at Danville didn’t go unnoticed, which in turn earned him a position on St. Mary’s College men’s rugby team.
While at St. Mary’s, Helu continued to demonstrate his power on the field and was named a Collegiate All-American in 2016. In 2018 he played with the USA Falcons Sevens team for several tournaments including Rugbytown Sevens. Helu accepted an offer with Rugby ATL in order to continue growing in his rugby career under the guidance of Head Coach Scott Lawrence.
When not on the field, Helu enjoys surfing and spending time with family.
