Youth Development and Community Engagement
We bring the game, you fall in love with it!
Our goal is to ensure that by the time the Rugby World Cups in 2031 and 2033 come to town, that every child in metro-Atlanta knows about the sport of rugby, and has had the opportunity to participate in some form of the game!
Rugby ATL and the RATL Foundation have started instructional tackle clinics in the ATL area with middle and high-school programs. Our objective is to help produce well rounded athletes for the sport of their choosing. Rugby style tackling has been shown to be a safer way to approach contact football, and we hope to be able to share our expertise with programs all around the City.
Curious? Read through some of our recent testimonials, and if you would like to schedule a tackle clinic run by Rugby ATL professional players and coaches, please contact us by emailing [email protected]
Testimonial from Coaches at Mt. Paran Christian School:“Thank you so much for today. Rugby ATL and the men as its ambassadors impacted nearly 100 young men’s lives and made us better. You are amazing coaches and the sessions had exactly what you said they would—intensity and effort, which resulted in skills being increased.”
Marietta City Schools – Community Enrichment Program
Rugby ATL currently works with four schools on a weekly basis (AL Burress, Lockheed, Dunleith & Sawyer Road Elementary Schools) teaching the participants the fundamentals of rugby. We introduce the sport through fun and engaging games, ensuring all participants touch the rugby ball as much as possible in 90 minutes.
Atlanta United
Rugby ATL is excited to announce a new initiative, working with the Atlanta United Academy’s U12 & U13’s on the first Wednesday of every month. This partnership is designed to help eliminate single-sport specialization at such young ages, expose children to other sporting opportunities, and teach complimentary skills and life-skills, specifically focussing on our core values of PACE to enhance the athlete experience.
AYR Summer Program
Every summer, Rugby ATL partners with Atlanta Youth Rugby (AYR) to offer coaching all over the Metro Atlanta Area. Rugby ATL provides coaching resources in the form of some of our players who spend the entire season with select teams in AYR, upskilling the players and coaches alike, emphasizing character development, and being role models to Atlanta’s youth.
Friday Night Youth Sessions
Rugby ATL is happy to offer the community an open invite for any young athletes aged 8-12 to come and spend some time learning the basics of rugby while having fun with current Rugby ATL players and coaches!
FNYS are aimed at offering young athletes in our community a fun way to make new friends and pick up some new skills. As part of our core P.A.C.E values at Rugby ATL, we set out to bring People together through rugby and create Change in young peoples lives by introducing them to the unique sport of rugby. Rugby as a sport is built around the values of teamwork, inclusiveness and respect, at Rugby ATL our Friday night youth sessions strive to bring these values into a fun and interactive environment that everyone enjoys. Every session is filled with fun interactive games for all ages that not only develops rugby specific skills and athleticism but also many skills found in other sports.
All Sessions are held at Rugby ATL Headquarters: 598 West Atlanta St SE, Marietta GA 30060
